AR Proves to be an Effective Teaching Tool
Developed by Logical Choice Technologies, the Letters Alive program seems to be having a positive impact on student learning. Students are able to interact with virtual figures such as animals and cartoon characters, and along the way learn the basics of reading and writing. According to school Principal Jane Brittel, the program is making a real difference in the skills of the students.
Technology can engage young children – visual, auditory and tactile learners alike – and draw them in. Augmented reality provides a great way to engage children so they can learn effectively.

I think AR is an excellent way to engage children, especially children who are not engaged by traditional teaching methods.
It is but I worry about technologies like this widening the gap between the “haves” and the “have-nots”. Access to technology is already a huge social and moral issue.
Absolutely. Not every home has an ipad or access to the internet. Technology is an important tool for teaching all children, especially those who may not have access to it in the home.
I agree with the comment about the gap between haves and have nots but we cannot ignore the benefit of computers and technology. iPads are useful for those with autism because they facilitate communication and aid in learning. I hope AR can be used as a tool to teach people who don’t learn well with traditional methods.
Access to technology is certainly an important equity issue. Technology offers many advantages in teaching and computers are catalysts for social interaction. Educators should strive to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum for all students — especially those who may not have access to technology in their homes.
