Vancouver In Time

Posted in: Announcements, Featured, General

Check out this new travel app, Vancouver in Time, by Historica-Dominion Institute/The Canadian Encyclopedia.  It enables visitors and history buffs alike to discover the hidden past of Vancouver, revealing Vancouver’s stories in the places where they happened.

While visiting the Vancouver Art Gallery you may learn about its resident ghost.  You can also learn about the Great Depression occupation of VAG that led to the Bloody Sunday clash.  Near Stanley Park?  Learn about the Babes in the Woods murders.  While staying at the Bayshore Hotel, why not delve into the mind of billionaire recluse Howard Hughes?  By tapping the ‘then and now’ button, you can watch the modern day landscape dissolve into the image as it would have appeared during the relevant era.

This is the first in a series of In Time apps prepared by The Canadian Encyclopedia and the Historica-Dominion Institute (the largest, independent organization dedicated to Canadian history, identity and citizenship). We look forward to their next project, ‘Toronto In Time’.  There must be more to Casa Loma than meets the eye!

The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.
